No surprise in first BCS Standings

October 19th, 2008, 4:27 pm · Post a Comment · posted by Brad Milner

The first Bowl Championship Series Standings were released Sunday afternoon, with Texas and Alabama occupying the top two spots.

The teams in those spots at the end of the regular season will play for the national championship. It’s rare to see the first two teams in the poll stay that way throughout, and it will be especially difficult for Texas and Alabama to do so with a lot to play and potential conference title games upcoming.

Utah, the only unbeaten team now form the Mountain West Conference, hovers at No. 11. Florida is 10th despite being ranked No. 7 in the coaches’ poll and Florida State 25th. Penn State is third and preseason SEC favorite Georgia is seventh.
